A multimedia solo concert of Italian poetry in music

Poems by Giacomo Leopardi, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Salvatore Quasimodo, Cesare Pavese, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Alda Merini

The music of Andrea Centazzo, composer, performer and video artist, has been tied to poetry since the beginning of his artistic journey not only as a source of inspiration but also as primary element in live performance.
Poets like Joyce, Gingsberg, Musil, Milton, Rilke, Bertolucci, Marin, Saba, Pasolini, Neruda, Trakl, Andric, Lalic, Middle Age poets and many other authors have been transposed in music, getting a new form and a new sound for the composing of works like "Omaggio a P. Pasolini", "A Bosnian Requiem", " Last letters to Musil", "Il Dittamondo", "Rain on the border".
In this new artistic project Andrea Centazzo explores the interconnection between the Italian poetry and his music, continuously interplaying in both classic and avantgarde fields: finally using verses, melodies and armonic overlayers in a blended way, backing some compositions with his award winning videos.

As in many previous compositions here Centazzo shows a perfectly balanced mix of poetry and sounds, using themes, atmospheres and colors in sustaining the poetry reading.
Keeping in mind the past experiences of the Western and Eastern traditions, here Centazzo is mixing the Italian melodic tradition with the sounds and patterns of the world music.
A digital keyboard linked to a main computer and the percussion instruments array gives him the possibility to recall in real time any imaginable kind of sound, making out of a solo performance an orchestral concert.

Computer use is one of the most distinctive features of this project, since nowadays it has become the heart of contemporary musical praxis. Here it gives to the composer the possibility to recall immediately chants, musical sequences, instrumental sounds, voices and noises recorded during his pilgrimages around the world.
Nothing is still on the tape, then, indeed everything is a live even-flow from the stage in real time.
Using last generation computers, at last Centazzo realized the dream of musical interaction with machines, endowing the solo performer with an orchestral character, since then now impossible for a solo performer.
So this is no longer a show for a narrator, images and solo percussion, yet it becomes a performance in which percussions, voices and sounds are means to activate a sounding scenery with almost endless possibilities of expression.
Moreover, languages integration (images and sounds) raises the perception range to a total level of fruition, soaking the audience in an artistic tour where iconographic and sounding effects are given the same importance.
As always for Centazzo this compositional experience is the delta of his creativity river where many different arms of music come to get a unique artistic flow.
This performance will present 12 new compositions and, thanks to the astonishing use of the computer of his own conception, audience will be able to dive into a musical journey that will take from Italy to the Far East , from the Gregorian Chanting to the America minimalism, from the traditional Balinese gong music to the techno electronic.
A full immersion musical experience featuring a narrator voice presenting some of the most beautiful poems of the most important Italian poets as Giacomo Leopardi, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Salvatore Quasimodo, Cesare Pavese, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Alda Merini, blended with the sound texture expecially created for them.
This truly and unique artistic experience can be stimulating and entertaining for alla kinds of audiences.
