"TINA made its debut at the end of 1996 in Udine (Italy) with the production of Teatro Comunale "G.Verdi" of Trieste, for the Centenary of Tina Modotti's birth, to whom the Opera is dedicated. In 1998, after several Italian performances, the Opera has been successfully premiered in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. Both productions with the same cast, but with different narrators (in Italy actress Ottavia Piccolo, in USA actress Lumi Cavazos) has been greately acclaimed by critic and audience. The opera TINA meant an artistic homage of musical, choreografic, literary and visual creations, is presented in 16 frames, reflecting places, situations, feelings and states of mind that act together to express the artistic and spiritual dimension of Tina Modotti, photographer, artist and revolutionary. USA press said about the Opera : "The orchestra made the textures in the score extraordinarily vivid....with a strong vocal cast; Centazzo's talent for propulsive ostinatos and orchestrations dominated by brass and percussions, suites well to the active, martial Modotti." (Los Angeles Times, 8/6/98) "Centazzo employs the diverse media as pieces of a puzzle that propelled the quicksilver hope of the protagonist, using the coreography of Luis Bernardo Ribeiro as a beautiful narrative bridge and the excellent performances of singers to support the readings of Lumi Cavazos."
